In this episode of the DU 80208 Podcast, Julie Tran and Ana Ortega interview Professor Alan Gilbert. Professor Gilbert has a Ph.D in Government from Harvard, has been teaching at the University of Denver for several years, and advocates for students regarding racial injustices on campus. He discusses the John Evans report that he aided in producing along with other DU staff. The report uncovered Evans involvement in the Sand Creek Massacre.

He goes into detail about DU’s offensive mascot and how the DU administration has responded to the protests from students. The university has been involved in several racist scandals and the administration has not fully responded to the needs of marginalized students.
